Driving my car…

DRIVING MY CAR…………………………

Its been seven years since I drove my car — legally. In actuality, I drive approximately once or twice a week — illegally.

I don’t understand why my friends, who as passengers in my car, don’t worry about the fact that my license is no longer valid. I’m fully aware of this important fact. If I get stopped for whatever reason, I’ll be in real trouble — maybe even in jail.

Nor do I understand why these pals don’t mind that I haven’t refilled my gas tank and desperately need some. I know this to be true.

I’m driving about once a week, but don’t worry. Its only in my dreams.

Why do you think I dream about driving so often??? Isn’t it weird???

That license is long expired

But then, I AM weird…

    • Actually I was never a comfortable driver and always aware that my car could kill someone. Then with no sense of direction and terrified of speed (like on the freeways) I easily gave up driving. How to figure this out??? Cheers, Muriel

  1. For many people, recurring dreams are associated with anxiety. Whatever is happening in the dream may be something that did or would cause anxiety in real life, though the anxiety one is currently experiencing in real life usually has nothing to do with the specific anxiety-filled thing in the dream. For example, many people have recurring dreams about being naked in public, or their teeth falling out, or having to take a test in school that they aren’t prepared for at all. So, knowing that you were never super comfortable with driving, especially in later years, my thought would be that you may be experiencing some anxiety of some sort in your current, real life, and your brain is translating it into “driving” in your dreams. That’s my Psych 101 interpretation, which is probably a bunch of baloney!

  2. Muriel! Can’t stop laughing! It’s Monday morning as I’m reading this and this started my day right. 🩷 So much love to you, Muriel. Take care always. And don’t drive without a license, even in your dreams! 😁

  3. I gave it up too, Muriel when problems with vision began. But you know what? We see more of the world as pedestrians and transit-users, don’t we? We can actually look around and be interested in our surroundings!

    • You are so right!!! I get to chat with other transit users, I get to see where shops are located as we pass them, and I have great fun teasing the drivers. Much more interesting than driving yourself. Thanks for reading AND your comment. Love, Muriel
